A cairn is a mound of stones, stacked by humans. They mark trails, summits, memorials, and resting places. I'm drawn to them because they show a way without insisting on any particular next step---not because one doesn't exist, but because people are different, particularly in this technological era. (I'm up to date on new technologies. I just care more about you.) At Cairn Studio, I don't prescribe solutions. I listen, and then I help you map a landscape for stronger, more lasting decisions. I know the field, and I have your back.
My core values are wonder, respect, perspective, and change that endures. I've done this work for years, and now I'm naming it, not because I need more, but because I want to be found. It's important to me to be simple and sincere here, but if you want testimonials, my resume, a list of clients, etc., just reach out. I care about your time and resources, including your money, and I try hard to be trauma-aware and reduce harm in everything I do.
Always Available:
Advice: let's meet for an hour on Zoom (or the phone, or in person) to talk about your next steps. Great for: people applying to jobs or schools, people looking for administrative encouragement or body doubling, people who want book lists, people dress rehearsing any number of things? Cost: $70-100, or trade.
Interview: First, I'll review anything you want to share: a new album, a new chapter, a wild archive. Then, we'll meet (over Zoom, on the phone, etc.) for an hour interview about the work and your vision. Finally, I'll send two transcripts (one raw, one edited), as well as suggestions for next steps, narratively or commercially. Great for: bands, re-centering, grace. Cost: $350-500, or trade.
Harm Reduction: For my industry loves. Obviously I can't fix drama, but I am a cool calm center who has lived in the world. Generally, we start with a blind survey offered over email to everyone in your shop or restaurant. From there, I program a forty-five to sixty minute session from a variety of menu items, including listening circles, verbal and physical de-escalation tactics, testing strips and naloxone administration, and ear seeds. It feels weird to list this out because the actual heart of the experience is listening to your people and coming to you. Cost: $350-500, or trade.
I particularly care about (and for, and with) people who are re-entering public life, working in secondary languages, or want to do (live) why they went to school but don't feel they have a roadmap for it. (For example, you earned an MFA (or the equivalent!) but your job perspectives have not changed, or you don't know how to lead a classroom (and want to.)) Please reach out if you'd like to work together; we'll figure out what that looks like and what we need. <3
